Nov 10

The Pier is now closed for the season. See you in the spring!

Oct 24

Bob again reports lots of flounder with a few keepers. The tautog bite is picking up, including  some keepers. And, of course, a mix of small fish (pigfish, spot, pinfish, seabass, and sea robins) along with a few bluefish and spiny dogfish in the mix. The fall fishing should continue to improve as the water cools and the flounder exit the bay and the tautog come in.

Oct 12

Bob reports lots of flounder with a few keepers, a couple of nice weakfish, a few croakers and bluefish, and a mix of small fish (pigfish, spot, seabass, sea robins), quite a few skates and a couple of big runaway rays.

Bob reports some nice weakfish and flounder this week, along with lots of croakers, and a mix of bluefish, spot, tautog, sea robins, seabass, and skates.

John reports a wide variety of fish caught at the Pier: bluefish, flounder, spot, croakers, kingfish, blackfish, triggerfish, sheepshead, sharks, sea robins and seabass.

July 1

John reports that kingfish, croakers, spot and flounder (mostly shorts) have been providing most of the action. Of course, there are still some rays providing some exciting battles.

June 10

A few weakfish have been caught, including some keepers. The blues are still around, including some choppers, but less than previous weeks. The flounder bite is starting to pick up, and some spot are now also being caught. As an added surprise, an Angel Shark and a Needlefish were caught this week (See our Memorable Catches Page).

May 23

The big bluefish are still hanging around and generating lots of excitement. As the water temperature continues to rise, the flounder bite on the Pier is also starting to pick up. And with the Pier now being open 24 hours starting this weekend, the bite should after dark under the lights should be exciting!

May 15

This past weekend the hickory shad were few and far between ... BECAUSE... the big bluefish arrived!  As they say "On Mother's Day, the Bluefish blitz the bay". Well, they certainly did this year. And ... the first flounder was also caught.

May 4

The hickory shad run is underway. Well over a hundred shad were caught  (and released) last week. No bait needed for the shad, just a spec rig and a moving tide. The tautog bite has also picked up. But you better hurry if you want to get in on the action, because the season closes on May 15 for a couple months. The tog were loving those green crabs and sand fleas. Several bluefish were caught on Friday. Hopefully that's the beginning of a major bluefish blitz this month.

April 18

Now that the winds have stopped and the water got clearer, the bite has turned on. A few tautog were caught yesterday, including one 18-inch keeper. The first hickory shad were caught yesterday and some again today. And, of course, several skates and dogfish were biting.

March 30

The Pier is now open. Check back here to see what's biting and when.
