April - May June July
August September October/November

April  24  -  What a great start ... The fish have arrived ...  First the shad started biting this past week.  Then the short stripers came in really heavy at night, under the lights.  About two hundred shorts were caught on Sunday and Monday nights on spec rigs.  And, the first keeper flounder of the year was also caught on Monday.
April  29  -  Bear reports quite a variety of fish caught this past week on the Pier:  In the daytime ... shad , a few blues , some short stripers, couple of puffers, skates, horseshoe crabs, flounder, and tautog (including the first keeper!).  At night ... flounder, shad, a few blues, short stripers, skates, horseshoe crabs ... even catching a few bunker!
May  5  -  The first of the BIG BLUEFISH have arrived.  Two 34" blues were caught on Thursday, and 5 more on Saturday, along with a few smaller blues.   Still catching shad and short stripers in the daytime and at night on spec rigs.  Also, the first trout of the season was caught on Friday.  And, of course, still plenty of skates and horseshoe crabs.
May  12  -  A few more BIG BLUEFISH, but not yet like it was last year.... still waiting and hoping!   We're also still catching stripers, and some are getting a lot bigger like the one caught today by Kelsey from Pennsylvania.     And, of course, still plenty of shad, skates and horseshoe crabs.
May  17  -  More Blues, some big ... some smaller.  More keeper flounder.  More short stripers.  And, yup .... more shad, skates and horseshoe crabs.  Family fun for everyone! (Check out our Memorable Catches Page!)
May  25  - Bear reports more of the same .... shad, blues, stripers, tautog, and flounder.  Should make for an exciting holiday weekend.  Come on Down!
June  4  -  Fishing last week was a bit slower.  Plenty of shad caught earlier in the week, with a few small bluefish, short stripers and an occasional flounder.  There were also schools of cownose rays circling the Pier; only a couple actually caught..  However, after the storm yesterday, fishing is picking up today with flounder and triggerfish biting on gulp and fishbites.
June  14  -  Bear reports catches this week of tautog, flounder, stripers, sea bass, puffers, triggerfish and skates.
June  24  -  This week, Dave reports more catches of flounder, short stripers, snapper and cocktail bluefish.
July  6  -  Despite the REALLY HOT weather, lots of small flounder were caught this past week, with an occasional nice keeper. One young, happy angler, Ryan from New Jersey caught 5 flounder in an hour.    He also caught lots of crabs.  Cooler weather is expected next week.  Come on down!
July  14  -  The weather did stay hot, but so did the flounder bite .... in the bay, and on the Pier.
July  25  -  Bear reports catches of flounder, spot, croaker, bluefish, seabass, rockfish, shad ... and .... lots of bait-stealing crabs!  If you have pictures of any of your catches, send them to me via the link at the bottom of the Memorable Catches page.
August 9  -  Bear again reports catches of spot, croaker, flounder, sea robins, sea bass, small rockfish, tautog ... and .... lots of crabs!
August 21 -  Bear reports another mixed bag on the Pier this past week, including spot, croaker, sea bass, small weakfish, tog, trigger fish, small rock fish, shad, blues .... and one unusual catch .... a pompano!
September  20  -  Dave reports that mostly flounder, seabass and spot have been the biting over the past couple of weeks.  There was also a really nice croaker caught yesterday (see the Memorabler Catches Page). As the water temperatures start to cool, the fall fishing should really start to pick up!
September  28  -  Despite the dirty water in the bay, some anglers did pretty well this past week with flounder, croakers, blowfish and spot.
October  14  -  Flounder, croakers, snapper bluefish, seabass, and lots of blowfish biting on the Pier this past week.  The tautog bite should turn on shortly now that the weather  (and water ) is cooling down .
October  20  -  Looks like the good fall fishing has begun on the Pier.  Lots of variety being caught:  short stripers, sea bass, puffers, spot, bluefish, croaker, lizard fish, pinfish, trout, flounder and sheepshead!  And, one angler, James Wylie, caught all of those on one day this week!
November  1  -  Water is getting colder .... and the tautog bite is getting hotter!  Howard, one of the Pier regulars, caught 2 nice keepers this past week.  Also, still some flounder,  snapper bluefish, puffers, sea bass .... and an occasional speckled trout.
November  13  -  The tautog bite continues to improve, with more keepers finally in the mix.  (Check out our Memorable Catches Page!)  Come on down ... the Pier won't be open much longer!
The Pier is now closed for the Season --- See you in the Spring !!!

Come On Down !
